Union Thuggery & The Chicago Way
Union Thuggery & The Chicago Way With Comment On The New Washington Way http://www.nypost.com/p/news/loca/labor_big_real_heavy_sleeper_jl3C7gI710FI3XqpEl5o3O
The following narrative and the linked story identify the thuggish behavior that many Americans are witnessing from the America’s political ruling regime. That regime uses the IRS, the US military, EPA, and more. But the methodology is the same.
During all the years that I was building my Business Center business across the nation in many large cities, I never ever experienced the harassment, evil, and potentially deadly union thugs anything similar to those of Chicago. The Chicago Way does exist.
So far Americans are simply lawfully standing their ground against the Chicago Way. They are allowing thugs to spit in their faces and denigrate them directly and to the world.
America’s thug regime is just another petty, cruel, evil, vengeful, deceitful, lying, and deadly Mike H.
Americans must realize that thuggery happens. Americans should not expect someone else to rescue them. Americans must know that they need to rescue themselves as I did, both from the hit that was put on me, and the thuggery that worked relentlessly to destroy my business.
Background For The NYPost Story: The thug in this story is a duplicate of Mike of McCormick Place. Mike was the roughly 350-pound, 6-foot-3-inch thug who was the head Teamster thug at McCormick Place when I was there working to build my business. Mike had a private office in the lower, darkest level of McCormick Place, similar to the one pictured in the linked story. He always drove a late model Lincoln Continental.
Adjacent to his office was the two-lane roadway where most trucks delivering and picking up equipment for exhibitors at McCormick Place had to drive along. Mike parked his Lincoln in one of those two lanes, effectively blocking half of the potential traffic flow. He always parked there regardless of how large the current trade show was and no matter how many exhibitors there were, during set-up and take-down.
The first time I met Mike I was doing my after-show work in a long, dark corridor at about 10 pm during the 1988 National Restaurant Show. My business was starting to become successful.
That night I was working with an 18-year-old black man, Edgar Phillips, who was very helpful and always dressed in a white shirt and tie. We were moving five medium sized boxes that we had taken in from attendees and exhibitors. We were using a hand push cart. It was our responsibility to make sure these boxes were shipped via UPS & FedEx. That is why customers paid me a premium surcharge amount to do.
This first meeting occurred when Edgar & I were working alone. The building was nearly deserted. Mike rode over to us on his motorized scooter in the dark corridor bringing with him about 18 of his fat, large fellow thugs. They all circled around Edgar taunting him with every filthy name other than the obvious one.
When they decided is was my turn for taunting, Mike rode his electric scooter directly up to me, bumping my leg. I did not move. He proceeded to shout, yell, and scream nearly every filthy word in the English language. He also spat in my face as he swore at me. His anger was ostensibly provoked because Edgar and I were moving five boxes on a hand push cart.
Mike yelled and spat in my face shouting that, “This is my building. No one else moves boxes other than Teamsters.” I stared at him. He swore and spat in my face. He eventually wore himself out. He gave up and stopped. Edgar and I learned who owns McCormick Place.
Just after Mike rode away, another Teamster on another scooter rode circles around us while demanding that I, “Get that thing out of the building.” The thing he was referring to was Edgar.
I was no longer able to hire Edgar for work at McCormick Place. Edgar joined the US Army.
Another of the several run ins with thug Mike was during a large trade show, the National Sporting Goods Association, which had contracted with me for three separate and concurrent business centers. This was in 1991 and by this time Mike knew me well. I had built a special cadre of allied Teamsters who were directly connected to the founder of the Teamster’s McCormick Place union and more going back to the 1940s & 1950s. These Teamsters were my protection. They were also, when needed, my special work force.
One night Mike had implemented the approach that the IBEW union steward had done so often. That is, he refused to allow the Teamsters to do their jobs serving my business as they were contracted and paid to do. That work was simply to move equipment and boxes for exhibitors and my business centers. When no Teamsters showed up to move my customers’ boxes into the secured area so they would (or might) not be stolen over night before the UPS & FedEx trucks arrived to pick them up, I had to move my customers’ boxes weighing between 20 and 70 pounds each into the secured area myself.
Once placed in the large, secured area, Mike sent a directive. It stated that I had to move every box from one end to the other end of the secured area. Since it was about 11 pm, I had sent all of my staff home. Therefore, I moved about 120 boxes myself. I still suffer from a hernia which serves as my daily reminder of Chicago thuggery, The Chicago Way. My moving boxes was a violation of Teamster rules in their building. By refusing to do their work, they forced me to break their rules.
Another trade show brought another run in provoked by Mike’s refusal to allow his Teamsters to do their job. About 9 pm Mike came over to me. I was in my business center. There were trade show exhibitors and their sales people packing up their booths and equipment and using my services.
There were literally hundreds of people around. Mike proceeded to — while standing up attempting to intimidate me — spit in my face as he shouted and swore at me for “touching” any boxes. He warned me that he had called the top Teamster who had turned around his car while driving home to Arlington Heights, and was going to come back to get me “straightened out.” NOTE: This top Teamster has since been convicted of federal racketeering and permanently barred from doing any union activity.
When Mike ran out of swear words to spew and he left the area, a older Polish man who had escaped several years before from communist Poland, stepped over to me and said that he witnessed this entire event. He said the ferocity and cruel treatment of Mike toward me reminded him of his years growing up in communist Poland.
These experiences at McCormick Place were frequent. They were duplicated in a more passive manner by the head IBEW union thug when he refused to run electricity into my business centers.
This story and the linked story identify the thuggish behavior that many Americans are witnessing from America’s ruling political regime. It uses the IRS, the US military, EPA, and more. But the methodology is the same.
During all the years that I was building my Business Center business across the nation in many large cities, I never ever experienced the harassment, evil, and potentially deadly union thugs anything similar to those of Chicago. The Chicago Way really does exist.
Rarely do people in my position lawfully stand their ground against the Chicago Way. Most people allow thugs to spit in their faces and denigrate them directly and to the world.
Many entrepreneurs attempting to innovate and establish businesses learn that there are often petty, cruel, evil, vengeful, deceitful, lying, and deadly villains lurking, waiting for the opportunity to do damage or steal a business. At some point Americans will need to rise up resisting government thugs. Americans will realize that Chicago-style thuggish behavior is the norm with some people and organizations. Americans should not expect someone else to rescue them. Americans must know that they need to rescue themselves as I did, both from the hit that was put on me, and the thuggish behavior that worked relentlessly to destroy my business.
